To: MEMBERS, PREVIOUS MEMBERS, & PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS
As many of you know, I am known as "the Father of the H-Bomb"
though I much prefer to be known as a founding member of the
Livermore Laboratory in California which worked on the H-Bomb
and contributed to our winning the Cold War.
Because of my keen awareness of the problems of modern weapons
and international relations, I have searched for solutions. That is why
I am on the Advisory Board of the Association to Unite the Democracies (AUD)
and have been for many years.
I support AUD because it supports the concept of the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization (NATO) uniting its democracies politically, militarily,
and economically into a limited representative, democratic, federal republic
similar to the United States so that it can speak with one voice and uphold
the freedom, liberty, security, and prosperity that is our way of life in the
western world. Once united, NATO would then invite all other nations
to adopt a free market society and join NATO in a democratic union so that
we would have one peaceful united world.
Our American forefathers united thirteen separate governments into one,
which has evolved into fifty separate governments uniting into one. As
President Harry Truman once said, "It will be just as easy for nations
to get along in a republic of the world as it is for you to get along in the
republic of the United States".
Friends, I invite you, and urge you, to join and rejoin the Association
to Unite the Democracies today, so that we may abolish war and bring about
a peaceful world for us, our children, and our grandchildren.
Yours in peace,
Edward Teller
